Bonus Feat: Samurai Bonus Feats operate the same way as Fighter Bonus Feats. However, Samurai levels do not count towards Fighter feat prerequisites (such as Weapon Specialization) the way Fighter and Sentry levels do.

Ancestral Daisho — All Samurai begin play with a katana and a wakizachi – two masterwork weapons. These are weapons that belonged to the samurai’s ancestors, and protecting the weapons is an important point of honor for the samurai. At certain periods in a Samurai’s life, he has the ability of unlocking the “power within” the sword of his ancestors.

Weapon Bonus/Total Sacrifice Required/Minimum Character Level
+1/2,000gp/4th
+2/8,000gp/7th
+3/18,000gp/10th
+4/32,000gp/13th
+5/50,000gp/16th

A samurai must give gold and items equal to the costs listed above to unlock the power of his weapons (the enhancements listed above apply to both weapons for each sacrifice). He must also spend one day per 1,000 gold spent in a temple or shrine. He must spend at least 8 hours each day kneeling before his ancestors and weapons, not stopping to eat or rest. Many samurai request the assistance of a shugenja, but it is not required. A samurai who loses his ancestral daisho is dishonored until he can recover them. He cannot enhance any other weapon in this way.
If a samurai is unable to recover his daisho with immediacy (to be determined by the DM), he becomes dishonored and is given a level of Ronin. Likewise, he may not take any more levels of Samurai until he recovers his ancestral daisho, and must instead take levels of Ronin.
